Job Description
List of Duties:
- Practical Preparation & Support
- Ensure the day-to-day running of the laboratories
- Set Up & Takedown: Preparation of chemicals, reagents, and equipment for all Science practicals, including AS Chemistry, Physics & Biology
- Technical Assistance: Assisting teachers with demonstrations and helping students during practical exams or complex experiments when required.
- Troubleshooting: Testing new experiments before they reach the classroom to ensure they yield the expected results. Ability to improvise.
- Health, Safety & Compliance
- Risk Assessment: Ensuring all practicals comply with safety regulations (like CLEAPSS).
- Hazardous Waste: Managing the safe disposal of chemical and biological waste.
- Chemical Management: Ensure that chemicals are used and disposed in a safe manner.
- Maintenance & Inventory
- Equipment Care: Cleaning glassware, maintenance of equipment.
- Stock Control: Monitoring supplies and ordering new chemicals and equipment . Maintaining a proper inventory record of all chemicals & equipment.
- Organization: Keeping the prep room and laboratories tidy, secure, and ready for use.
Soft Skills: Patience, clear communication, and the ability to work around students
Job Requirements
Skills & Qualifications
- Candidate should have a sound knowledge of sciences, i.e. Physics, Chemistry & Biology, preferably A level, diploma in a Science field or other related science qualifications.
- On the job training will be provided.
