Job Description
Join Cable & Wireless Seychelles as an IT Security, Compliance, and Quality Assurance Engineer functions and play a critical role in assisting with the implementation, monitoring, and improvement of basic IT controls and security practices, while gaining practical experience in audit, risk management, and security operations under senior guidance.
The position focuses on helping maintain and monitor security controls, supporting audit and compliance activities, and contributing to risk management efforts through tasks such as maintaining IT general controls, assisting with audit documentation and follow-ups, reviewing logs for unusual activity, supporting policy and process adherence, and participating in incident response and security awareness initiatives.
Additionally, the role involves maintaining trackers, preparing basic reports, and updating risk records, all within a structured learning environment designed to develop foundational skills and progressively build capability in IT security and governance.
Job Requirements
Qualifications:
Minimum Required
Degree / Diploma in:
- Computer Science
- Information Systems
- Cybersecurity
or related field
Desirable:
- Basic professional certifications (Security+, Microsoft Fundamentals, CCNA – optional)
- Any academic or internship exposure to IT/security
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
Fundamental understanding of:
- IT systems and networks
- Basic cybersecurity concepts
- Concepts like user access, backups, and system changes
Awareness of:
- IT security standards (ISO27001, SOC, NIST, CIS best practices)
- Cloud basics and Microsoft 365
- Linux/Windows environments (basic level)
Soft Skills
- Strong willingness to learn
- Good communication skills
- Attention to detail
- Ability to follow processes and instructions
- Team player with a proactive attitude
EXPERIENCE
- Internship, academic projects, or lab exposure is an advantage
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Willing to learn and grow in cybersecurity & compliance
- Organized and able to manage assigned tasks
- Willing to occasionally support activities outside core hours
- Clean police record and valid driving license
