Mahe Laundry Services is a start-up laundry venture located in Roche Caiman, on the mainland of Mahe, Seychelles. The commercial laundry will service mainly business customers in the hospitality, industrial and heathcare sectors and has a total capacity of ± 13,000 tons/day.

We are currently recruiting for the following position:

Job Description

Position Summary

The Cleaner is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and hygienic environment throughout Mahe Laundry Services Building. This includes cleaning all operational areas of the laundry facility, offices, staff amenities, washrooms, storage areas, the canteen, and surrounding premises to ensure a safe and professional workplace for employees and visitors.

The role is physically demanding and requires the ability to work independently while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in a busy industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitise all laundry production areas, offices, reception, staff canteen, washrooms, changing rooms, corridors, stairways, and other associated areas.
• Sweep, mop, scrub, vacuum, dust, and disinfect floors, walls, work surfaces, windows, doors, and fixtures.
• Clean around industrial laundry equipment, ensuring dust, lint, and debris are removed while observing all safety procedures.
• Empty rubbish bins, remove waste, and dispose of refuse in designated collection areas.
• Clean and sanitise staff kitchen and canteen facilities, including tables, countertops, sinks, cupboards, refrigerators, and appliances.
• Replenish cleaning supplies, soap, paper towels, toilet paper, and other consumables in washrooms and staff facilities.
• Clean internal and external entrances, loading areas, and other designated outdoor spaces as required.
• Safely use and store cleaning chemicals and equipment in accordance with company procedures and Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
• Report maintenance issues, safety hazards, damaged equipment, or supply shortages to the Supervisor.
• Follow all Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) procedures and wear the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Assist with periodic deep cleaning and special cleaning tasks as directed by management.
• Perform any other cleaning duties reasonably assigned by management.

Job Requirements

Physical Requirements

The position is physically demanding and requires the ability to:

• Stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
• Frequently bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and stretch while cleaning.
• Lift, carry, push, and pull cleaning equipment, waste bins, and supplies safely.
• Work in warm, humid, and occasionally noisy industrial conditions.
• Perform repetitive cleaning tasks while maintaining productivity and quality standards.

Working Hours

This position requires flexibility to meet operational demands from Monday to Sunday, forty-eight hours per week. The employee is entitled to twenty-four hours off a week and one hour break per day.

Due to operational requirements, the successful candidate must be willing to:

• Work long or irregular hours when required.
• Work overtime, weekends, or public holidays where necessary.
• Demonstrate flexibility to support cleaning requirements outside normal operating hours or during periods of increased business activity.
