Post Title: CCTV Operator
Location: Roche Caiman, Mahé, Seychelles
Reports To: Head of Security
Job Description
POSITION PURPOSE
The CCTV Operator is responsible for the continuous monitoring and operation of the Estate’s Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) surveillance and security systems to ensure the safety, security, and protection of residents, guests, staff, visitors, and company assets. The role requires maintaining constant vigilance, responding promptly to security incidents, recording and reporting observations accurately, and supporting the Security Team through effective communication and coordination.
The CCTV Operator plays a critical role in preventing security breaches, protecting property, and ensuring compliance with company policies, operational procedures, and applicable Seychelles legislation relating to privacy and surveillance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Surveillance & Monitoring
- Continuously monitor all CCTV cameras, alarm systems, access control systems, and other security equipment.
- Operate Pan-Tilt-Zoom (PTZ) cameras to monitor suspicious activities and investigate incidents.
- Detect, identify, and report security breaches, suspicious behaviour, safety hazards, vandalism, theft, trespassing, and emergency situations.
- Maintain constant awareness of all high-risk areas, entry and exit points, parking areas, service roads, and perimeter fencing.
- Ensure surveillance coverage is maintained throughout each shift without interruption.
Incident Detection & Response
- Immediately notify Security Supervisors and ground security personnel of any suspicious activity or security incident.
- Coordinate emergency responses involving medical emergencies, fires, criminal activity, accidents, natural disasters, or evacuations.
- Provide real-time information and updates to responding officers to assist with incident management.
- Liaise with emergency services and law enforcement when instructed.
Security Systems Operation
- Operate and monitor CCTV recording systems, access control systems, alarms, intercoms, and related electronic security equipment.
- Verify alarms and determine whether they are genuine incidents or false activations.
- Monitor system health and report equipment malfunctions immediately.
- Assist in routine testing of surveillance systems to ensure operational readiness.
Recording & Documentation
- Maintain accurate control room logs throughout each shift.
- Prepare comprehensive incident reports detailing observations, actions taken, timelines, and outcomes.
- Archive and retrieve CCTV footage when authorised for investigations, audits, insurance claims, or law enforcement requests.
- Maintain confidentiality of all surveillance records and security information.
Access Control Support
- Monitor vehicle and pedestrian access points using CCTV and electronic access systems.
- Verify visitor movements and support gatehouse personnel when required.
- Observe deliveries, contractors, and service providers entering and exiting the estate.
- Report any unauthorised access attempts immediately.
Equipment Inspection
- Conduct daily operational checks of CCTV monitors, cameras, recording equipment, servers, communication systems, and backup systems.
- Report equipment faults, damaged cameras, poor image quality, or system failures to the Security Supervisor and Maintenance Department.
- Assist technicians during maintenance or upgrades when required.
Compliance & Confidentiality
- Operate surveillance systems in accordance with company policies and applicable data protection and privacy legislation.
- Ensure CCTV footage is accessed only by authorised personnel.
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding surveillance operations, investigations, residents, guests, and company information.
- Follow all security procedures and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Communication & Teamwork
- Maintain effective communication with Security Officers, Supervisors, Management, and emergency responders.
- Participate in daily shift handovers ensuring all ongoing incidents and equipment issues are communicated.
- Support investigations by providing accurate information and CCTV evidence.
- Attend departmental meetings, briefings, and mandatory training sessions.
Health, Safety & Security
- Promote a safe and secure working environment.
- Report workplace hazards immediately.
- Comply with all Occupational Health and Safety policies.
- Participate in emergency drills and security exercises.
- Always maintain professional conduct while operating security systems.
Job Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- Certificate in Security Operations, CCTV Operations, or a related field is desirable.
- Valid security certification or licence where required by Seychelles regulations.
- First Aid certification is advantageous.
Experience
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a CCTV Control Room or Security Operations Centre.
- Experience operating digital CCTV systems, alarm monitoring systems, and access control systems.
- Previous experience within hospitality, residential estates, commercial properties, or corporate environments will be an advantage.
