JOB TITLE: Inspection Officer

RESPONSIBLE TO: Senior Inspections Officer
Job Description
Summary of Duties
To enforce the provisions of the fisheries act as empowered by the Fisheries Act, and any fisheries management plan in effect under the act. Conduct various post-harvest inspections to ensure that fish and fish products being traded are from legitimate sources, and are being traded in accordance to the Fisheries act, and as required by agreed conservations and management measures when necessary. Assist in the prosecution of any illegal fisheries activities together with the SFAs’ legal officer as necessary.

Job Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
- IGCSE Certificates (English, Maths French, Geography) OR Certificate in Maritime Studies,
- Relevant work experience in trade related law enforcement, maritime law enforcement or any other relevant field
- Plant inspections and safety procedures
- Relevant international laws, RFMO/ RFB agreements, and Conservation and Management Measures
Required Skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Driving License class 2
- Fisheries incident investigations, evidence gathering and prosecution procedures
