COOK/GARDENER – Aldabra Atoll
The Cook/Gardener is responsible for preparing and serving nutritious meals for staff and visitors, maintaining kitchen hygiene, and managing food stocks and equipment. The role also includes baking, meal planning, and cultivating a small garden to supply fresh produce. During quieter periods, the Cook/Gardener assists with general maintenance of the Research Station and facilities.
Job Description
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare and serve meals, including bread and pastries, ensuring hygiene and kitchen maintenance.
- Manage food stocks, meal planning, and monthly costings in liaison with the Island Manager.
- Maintain a kitchen garden for fresh produce.
- Assist with general station and settlement maintenance when required.
- Support anti-poaching patrols, waste management, and visitor guidance.
- Keep daily logs of meals, stock levels, and equipment usage, and submit monthly reports.
- Use and maintain kitchen appliances and gardening tools responsibly.

Job Requirements
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Certificate in Food Preparation and Culinary Arts (Level 2 or above) from the Seychelles Tourism Academy or equivalent, OR minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Senior Cook, preferably in a remote environment.
