Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities

• Install structures and fixtures, such as windows and molding
• Measure, cut and shape wood, plastic, and other materials
• Construct and install building frameworks, including walls, floors and doorframes
• Inspect and replace damaged frameworks or other structures and fixtures (i.e. re-roofing, cabinets, doors, flooring, painting, reparation of furniture and fittings etc.) at Water Treatment Plants, pump stations, reservoirs and/or specified locations as per instruction from superior.
• Instruct, direct and assist labourers and other construction helpers
• Uses power tools and other tools to cut and shape wood, metal, and other materials
• Maintain and safeguard any tools and equipment used to perform duties
• Make regular physical inspections of the building, checking the condition of building and report
• Utilizes skills and experience in other related trades such as plumbing, roofing, masonry, painting, tiling, plastering, etc.
• Report any problem quickly to your supervisor and ensure that all follow up steps are taken and recorded.
• Respond to emergency situations promptly.
• Adhere strictly to Health and Safety Regulations established within PUC at all times.
• Provide an excellent level of Customer Service
• To assist other departments/ sections within PUC as and when instructed by Supervisor

Job Requirements

Qualification and Experience

• Certificate in carpentry and joinery.
• Minimum 3 years working experience in carpentry works.

Personal Attributes and Skills

• Must be responsible & reliable
• Must be self-motivated.
• Ability to read and write Basic English and Creole
• Understand work plans
