Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities
- Instruct, direct and assist labourers and other construction helpers
- To carry out any masonry works on any new construction projects.
- Carry out any repairs and masonry maintenance work on existing buildings and structures at Water Treatment Plants, pump stations, reservoirs and/or specified locations as per instruction from superior.
- To coordinate and prepare respective job sites (i.e. foundation, mix concrete and mortar, install scaffolding etc)
- To use a variety of available tools/equipment and materials to measure, cut, shape, fabricate, construct and install final product(s) as per project/ maintenance requirement
- Maintain and safeguard any tools and equipment used to perform duties
- To utilizes skills and experience in other related trades such as plumbing, carpentry, roofing, masonry, painting, tiling, plastering, welding, etc. to complete projects and maintenance works at Water Treatment Plants, pump stations, reservoirs and/or specified locations, as per requirement standard and instruction from superior.
- To assist other departments/ sections within PUC as and when instructed by Supervisor
- Make regular physical inspections of the building, checking the condition of building and promptly report relevant issues to immediate supervisor, ensuring events are recorded and follow up steps are taken
- Respond to emergency situations promptly.
- Adhere strictly to Health and Safety Regulations established within PUC at all times.
- Provide an excellent level of Customer Service
Job Requirements
Qualifications and Experience
- Certificate in Masonry or equivalent preferred
- Proven work experience as a mason or similar role
- Experience in working with other professionals on a construction site
- Minimum 3 years working experience in masonry works.
Personal Attribute
- Must be responsible and responsible
- Must be self-motivated
- Ability to read and write basic English and creole
- Understand work plans
