Position: Banking Software Applications Officer

Responsible to: Head of Information Technology

Job Description

Job Summary:

Assist the Senior Officer with administration, support, and optimisation of core banking and related financial software applications and ensuring system availability, security, and performance while supporting business operations through effective application management, user support, testing, and implementation of system enhancements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support for software applications and systems
  • Ensure compliance with banking regulations, security standards and internal controls
  • Troubleshoot and resolve software issues reported by users
  • Collaborate with development teams to diagnose and fix bugs
  • Install, configure, and upgrade software products
  • Monitor application performance and report anomalies
  • Document support cases, solutions, and technical procedures
  • Assist users with software usage, best practices, and training
  • Escalate unresolved issues to appropriate technical teams
  • Maintain knowledge base and support documentation
  • Ensure timely response and resolution in line with SLAs
  • Generate MIS reports to support business operations and decision-making
  • Analyse support data to identify trends, recurring issues, and areas for improvement
  • Support data extraction, transformation, and visualization for reporting purposes
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver actionable insights from support and usage data
  • Assist in system testing, incident resolution, and change management

Job Requirements

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 2 to 5 years’ experience in commercial banking IT systems, application support environment with hands-on experience with core banking systems.
  • Knowledge of database systems (Oracle, MYSQL, MS-SQL etc), DBA Skills, Database Cluster Management (RAC), programming languages (JAVA, Python, PLSQL) and good understanding of ERP and Banking software.
  • Good understanding of Banking Business Processes and Transactional Flow, financial products, and regulatory requirements.

  • Strong understanding of banking processes (retail, corporate, payments, loans, deposits, money market)
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance, audit requirements, and risk management
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Effective communication and documentation skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities
  • Team collaboration and customer-focused mindset
  • High level of integrity and confidentiality awareness
