Position Summary:
Candidate should be reliable, customer-focused, and energetic. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing beverages, serving customers, operating the cash register, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring excellent customer service standards at all times.
The employee will work on a rotating shift schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required by operational needs. The employee will be entitled to one day off a week.
Key Responsibilities
Barista Duties
- Prepare and serve coffee, tea, smoothies, and other beverages according to company standards.
- Operate coffee machines and related equipment safely and efficiently.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of beverage preparation areas.
- Monitor stock levels and inform management of shortages.
Cashier Duties
- Process customer transactions accurately using the POS system.
- Handle cash, card payments, and daily cash balancing procedures.
- Issue receipts and provide excellent customer assistance.
- Maintain accuracy in billing and reporting.
General Duties
- Welcome customers and provide professional service.
- Restock shelves, refrigerators, and display areas when necessary.
- Ensure compliance with health, hygiene, and safety standards.
- Assist with opening and closing procedures.
- Perform other reasonable duties assigned by management.

Job Requirements
Qualifications & Requirements
Hard Skills, Knowledge & Qualifications
- Working knowledge of espresso machines, grinders, and brewing equipment (e.g., pour over, drip).
- Ability to correctly prepare core espresso-based drinks like lattes, cappuccinos, flat whites, and long blacks.
- Understanding coffee bean varieties, roast levels, grinding sizes, and extraction ratios.
- Fundamental techniques (such as hearts or rosettas), which are a huge plus in specialty cafes.
- Friendly, welcoming communication and the ability to handle complaints calmly under pressure.
- The ability to craft multiple orders simultaneously while maintaining quality and speed during busy periods.
- Basic Numeracy & IT-Comfort handling transactions on a Point of Sale (POS) system and managing basic stock.
- Diploma in Hospitality or related field is an advantage
- Basic food handling or safety certification.
- Previous experience in hospitality, café service, retail, or cashier work is an advantage.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work flexible shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
- Professional appearance and positive attitude.
Working Hours & Shift Schedule
The employee will work on a rotating shift basis according to operational requirements.
Monday to Thursday
- Morning Shift: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM (7 hours excluding one hour lunch time)
- Evening Shift: 4:00 PM – 9:00 PM (4 hours)
Friday and Saturday
- Morning Shift: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM (7 hours excluding one hour lunch time)
- Evening Shift: 4:00 PM – 11:00 PM ( 7 hours)
Sunday
- Morning Shift Only: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM (7 hours excluding one hour lunch time)
Maximum no of normal working hours per week: 42 hours weekly
Shift schedules may be adjusted by management with reasonable notice in accordance with operational needs and the Employment Act.
Overtime
Any hours worked beyond the employee’s agreed normal working hours shall be treated as overtime and compensated in accordance with the Seychelles Employment Act and Conditions of Employment Regulations.
Probation Period
The successful candidate may be subject to a probation period as specified in the employment contract and in compliance with Seychelles employment law.
