Inter Island Boats Ltd-Catcocos  invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced professionals for the position of Chief Internal Auditor.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing independent assurance on the effectiveness of the Company’s internal controls, risk management, governance and compliance systems, ensuring the protection of Company assets and promoting operational efficiency and accountability.

Job Description

Summary of the duties and responsibilities.

• Plan and conduct risk-based financial, operational and compliance audits.
• Evaluate internal controls, risk management systems and governance practices.
• Review financial records, revenue collection, ticketing, procurement, payroll, expenditure and asset management.
• Identify control weaknesses, irregularities, potential fraud and operational risks and recommend corrective measures.
• Prepare audit reports and present findings and recommendations to the appropriate authority.
• Monitor implementation of audit recommendations and conduct special investigations when required.
• Advise management on improving internal controls, risk mitigation and compliance with applicable legislation and Company policies.

Job Requirements

Minimum Job entry requirements.

Applicants should possess the following:

Qualifications

• Professional qualification  or an equivalent recognised qualification.
• Certification in Internal Auditing or a related field would be an advantage.
• Recognised professional accounting or auditing qualification.

Experience

• Minimum thirteen (13) years of post-qualifying professional experience.
• Proven experience in planning, conducting and supervising audits.
• Experience in financial analysis, fraud prevention, compliance reviews and audit reporting.
• Experience in the maritime, transport, logistics or other operationally complex industries would be an advantage.
• Substantial experience in internal auditing, risk management, internal controls and corporate governance.
• Relevant senior-level supervisory or management experience.

• Sound knowledge of auditing standards, financial management, internal controls and risk assessment.
• Excellent report-writing, communication and presentation skills.
• Strong leadership,organisational and decision-making abilities.
• High integrity, independence, objectivity, professionalism and confidentiality.
