The main purpose of the role is to lead the Internal Audit Function and provide reasonable assurance that the company’s risk management, control and governance processes as designed and represented by management, are adequate and are functioning as intended and will enable the company’s objectives and goals to be met.
Job Description
Summary of Main Roles
- Ensure that professional internal auditing standards are being followed.
- Implement and maintain an effective risk based internal audit function in accordance with the IIA standards;
- Develop and execute Internal Audit Strategic Plans (5-year plan) to achieve the mission and objectives of the internal audit function which should be aligned to the company’s objectives.
- Ensure that internal audit resources are appropriate, sufficient and effectively deployed to achieve the internal audit plan approved by the Audit and Risk Committee.
- Report on weaknesses, failures and discrepancies, and make recommendations to improve weak internal controls, introduce non existing controls and eliminate/replace ineffective ones.
- Prepare annual internal audit reports, providing an annual holistic opinion on the effectiveness and adequacy of risk management, control, and governance processes.
- Assess the significance of the company’s risks and the effectiveness of risk management system on an annual basis.
- Verifying that reinsurance allocations are properly carried out, that bordereau is prepared on time and that reinsurers are provided with quarterly statistics.

Job Requirements
Qualifications and Experience
- ACCA professional qualification and must be fully conversant with IFRS
- Degree in Accounting &/or Finance
- At least 3 years’ experience.
Key competencies
- Excellent audit background.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge and experience of accounting and auditing practices, policies and standards and how they apply to insurance business.
- Pro-active in problem solving and able to analyse information, explore different options, using initiative to seek solutions and form conclusions whilst demonstrating awareness and creative thinking.
