Summary

The cleaning supervisor will be operating from our base in the Seychelles, where activity levels are high with upward of 10 yacht turnarounds per day.

This individual will be confident working in a fast-paced environment and will manage the pressure of boarding times calmly and efficiently. Quality control will be a priority and hands on support will be required to ensure the yachts are cleaned to our highest standard.

Main duties will centre around the yachts, the customers, and the base. Working hours vary and you MUST be able to cover operational requirements including early and evening shifts as required. The weekend are the busiest days at base and will be working days, days off will be scheduled mid-week.

This role will involve regular movement between the docks in varying weather conditions, and frequent visits to multiple yachts per day for cleaning and quality check requirements.

What you will be doing:

As the Cleaning Supervisor, you will be responsible for:

  • Adherence of cleaning standards and procedures across the cleaning team – ensuring company standards are always met, and procedures are always followed.
  • Daily review of the customer service questionnaires using the online dashboard, addressing any cleanliness comments, and taking action if any negative feedback is received.
  • Scheduling and assigning specific duties/roles to the cleaning team and ensuring that they are carried out in line with company standards.
  • Ensure that company and local H&S procedures are adhered to, including timely incident reporting, and risk assessments.
  • Ensure the cleaning team has the right amount of personnel to meet operational demand.
  • Ensuring the local stores maintain a satisfactory level of domestic inventory for any necessary replenishment on the yachts.
  • Inspection of cleaning equipment on a regular basis, ensuring any worn-out equipment is replaced, and that safety and hygiene standards are met.
  • Controlling and monitoring the usage of cleaning materials to avoid or minimize waste and/or misuse.
  • Ensuring the department adheres to the usage of only solutions agreed by the company for the cleaning of yachts, to meet our sustainability objective.
  • Responsible for organising linen preparation to and from laundry to base.
  • Responsible for submitting payroll time sheets for the cleaning team.
  • Responsible for working with the operations manager on any financial budgets for the cleaning team and submitting to the finance/management team as requested.
  • Daily assistance with the planning and coordination of boat changes and accommodation requests.
  • Coaching/developing the cleaning time and supporting with performance reviews on a quarterly basis to ensure their objectives are clear and that company targets are being met.
  • Daily interaction with customers, ensuring their expectations are met with the standard and presentation of their yacht, and handling any cleaning related issues or complaints.
  • Ensuring the docks are kept tidy and that all cleaning waste and equipment is removed regularly and in a timely manner.
  • Provide coverage in other departments as required, and coordinate coverage for any cleaning team assignments
  • Attendance and contribution to departmental and general staff meetings
  • Any other reasonable duties as requested by a manager

Job Requirements

The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Experience in supervision of a cleaning team and cleaning procedures
  • Significant experience in a yacht cleaner position.
  • Ability to utilize computer software programs such as Microsoft Word/Excel/Outlook, reservation systems and/or internet-based data centers.
  • Must possess communication skills in speaking, writing, and listening in English and Spanish.
  • Should have a clear understanding of customer service guidelines/principles
  • Able to confidently deal with complaints and solve on the spot
  • Ability and experience working in a fast-paced environment
  • Must have the ability and willingness to work as part of a team, and most importantly, lead a team.
  • Should have good base knowledge of the yachting industry with the ability to use a VHF radio including the proper use of call signs.
  • Should have an understanding of health and safety practice in the workplace, especially within a cleaning environment.
  • Self-starter with ability to work under own initiative.
  • Ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Organized and able to respond to changing priorities quickly.
  • Strong team spirit and flexibility, with good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to develop effective relationships with staff.
