Working Hours: 8 am to 4 pm (expected to work odd hours)

Job Description
Job Summary
- Manage the Conservation Unit
- Performs a wide variety of repair and conservation treatments on research materials in collections ranging from simple paper mends to complex book repairs, as well as production of custom-made protective enclosures to house rare and unique items within the National collection
- Trains Conservation Unit staff and other library staff, as well as interns, in collection maintenance procedures
- Prepares documents for scanning and participates in its process
- Maintains the conservation facility with clean-up activities, monitoring inventory, restocking materials and other conservation supplies

Job Requirements
Qualifications and Experience:
- Degree in Librarianship; or
- Diploma in Librarianship plus three years satisfactory work experience as an Assistant Librarian; or
- Certificate in Librarianship plus five years satisfactory work experience as an Assistant Librarian; and
- Experience in providing preservation of book care services with evidence of progressively increasing scope of skills, knowledge, and responsibility in a National Library.
