Job Description
Main Functions
- Lead in developing tools to be used for elderly homes’ accreditation upkeep.
- Lead in accreditation processes for new and continuing elderly homes and future institutions
- Create training materials and operating manuals, as necessary
- Development, renewal and consistent implementation of risk management framework to ensure risks are identified, minimized and managed in residential homes
- Actively work with elderly homes to ensure effective and consistently utilized systems for optimal care and service delivery employed.
- Ensure systems in place to manage external service providers to ensure safe and high quality care and service delivery.
- Ensure and lead in developing systems to cover all corporate and care policies and procedures are maintained to assist organizational practices are safe and of high quality.
- Monitor that the homes have emergency and disaster management plans and supports a safe and well prepared practice environment.
- Review and assist to implement and monitor that a strong quality management framework consistent with legislative and organizational requirements are in place in the elderly homes and other facilities.
- Assist with maintenance of relationships with key external stake holders (national, regional and international)
- Work co-operatively to implement change, providing support and leadership.
- Lead in specific policy development and its implementation.
Summary of Duties & Responsibilities
- Leading and Managing the Elderly and Disability Division
- Co-ordinating the development and prioritization of work of activities for the different Sections of this division
- Defining and Ensuring the implementation of the Division’s workplan activities.
- Design and conceptualization of national studies, surveys and programmes linked with these two specific target groups in our population (the elderly and the disabled).
- Co-ordination of research and analysis on these issues (link other major stakeholders).
- Co-ordinating the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of plans and programmes.
- Reviewing and developing relevant policies, indicators, data-sets/bases.
- propose recommendations to Government to update and adjust national and sectoral policies, strategies and programme, as may be necessary.
- Developing standards to ensure that quality services are provided in our community
- Co-ordinate targeted efforts to examine Seychelles’s population trends vis-à-vis these two groups, and their implications for the country’s future development.
- Preparing relevant paper for the Principal Secretary and Minister of the Ministry (Speech writing and report writing, editorial duties…)
- Representing the division on national, regional and international committees, as may be required.
- Establishing and maintaining close working relationship with local, regional, and international partners.
- Advocacy, empowerment and support through development of IEC materials

Job Requirements
Minimum Education Requirements
- Master’s Degree in Social Work or related social/medical fields
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Nursing, or other social or medical fields
Minimum Experience Requirements
- 5 years as a Director of Social Planning or equivalent in a health-related field
