Mahe Laundry Services is a start-up laundry venture located in Roche Caiman, on the mainland of Mahe, Seychelles. The commercial laundry will service mainly business customers in the hospitality, industrial and heathcare sectors and has a total capacity of ± 13,000 tons/day.

We are currently recruiting for the following position:

Job Description

Position Summary

The Driver is responsible for collecting soiled linen from client premises and delivering clean, correctly counted linen on schedule for Mahe Laundry Services. This includes looking after the delivery vehicle, loading and unloading, and keeping accurate records for every run to hotels, guesthouses, and other clients.

The role is physically demanding and requires the ability to work independently, drive safely on Mahé’s roads, and represent the company professionally with clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Follow the daily route schedule, collect soiled linen and uniforms from client premises, and deliver clean items on time.
• Count and record items with the client’s representative at every pick-up and drop-off, and obtain signed delivery notes.
• Report shortages, damaged items, stains, or special requests to the Supervisor the same day.
• Handle client queries politely and professionally, and refer complaints to the Supervisor.
• Load and unload trolleys, bags, and bundles safely, keeping clean and soiled linen separate at all times.
• Secure loads so that linen stays clean, dry, and undamaged in transit.
• Carry out daily vehicle checks (tyres, oil, water, lights, brakes) and report faults immediately.
• Keep the vehicle clean, fuelled, and serviced on schedule, and complete the fuel and mileage log.
• Report any accident, damage, or traffic offence to the Supervisor on the day it happens.
• Use gloves and follow hygiene procedures when handling soiled linen, and follow all Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) procedures.
• Assist in the laundry plant with sorting, packing, or dispatch when there are no routes to run.
• Perform any other driving or delivery duties reasonably assigned by management.

Job Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

The successful candidate will have:

• A valid Seychelles driving licence (Category 4), with a clean driving record.
• At least two years’ professional driving experience, ideally delivering goods on Mahé’s roads.
• Good knowledge of Mahé’s road network, including Victoria, Beau Vallon, Anse aux Pins, Anse Royale, and the main hotel areas.
• The ability to read delivery notes, count items accurately, and keep simple records.
• Good spoken Creole and English; French is an advantage.
• To provide a recent police character certificate

The following will be an advantage:

• Experience driving trucks and reversing in tight loading areas.
• Previous work with hotels, laundry, catering, or distribution.
• Basic first aid certification.
• Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge.

Physical Requirements

The position is physically demanding and requires the ability to:

• Sit for extended periods while driving and stand and walk when loading and unloading.
• Lift, carry, push, and pull linen bundles and trolleys repeatedly throughout the day.
• Use correct lifting techniques and trolleys to avoid injury.
• Work outdoors in heat, humidity, and rain.
• Start early on some days to meet hotel delivery deadlines.

Working Hours

This position requires flexibility to meet operational demands from Monday to Sunday, forty-eight hours per week. The employee is entitled to twenty-four hours off a week and one hour break per day.

Due to operational requirements, the successful candidate must be willing to:

• Work long or irregular hours when required.
• Work overtime, weekends, or public holidays where necessary.
• Start early or finish late to meet client delivery and collection deadlines.
