• Fiberglass Technician (Marine) (1 position)

Job Description

Summary of the duties and responsibilities.

• Repair, restore, and maintain fiberglass boats and marine components.
• Perform structural and cosmetic fiberglass repairs using industry best practices.
• Prepare and apply gel coat finishes, including colour matching and spray applications.
• Sand, polish, buff, and finish fiberglass surfaces to a high-quality standard.
• Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance of marine fiberglass structures.
• Operate and maintain fiberglass repair tools and equipment safely.
• Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety requirements.
• Assist with emergency repairs and work collaboratively with the Engineering and Marine teams.

Minimum job entry requirements

Applicants should possess:

Qualifications

• Certificate, Diploma or Trade Qualification in Fiberglass Repair, Composite Technology, Boat Building, Marine Engineering or a related technical field.
• Training or certification in gel coat spraying or fiberglass repair is an advantage.
• Valid driving licence would be an asset.

Experience

• Minimum of 5 years experience in fiberglass boat repair and restoration.
• Proven experience in gel coat spraying, colour matching and high-quality fiberglass finishing
• Experience working on boats, yachts or other marine vessels is highly desirable

Knowledge

• Sound knowledge of marine fiberglass construction and composite materials.
• Good understanding of gel coat systems, fiberglass lamination and finishing techniques.
• Knowledge of marine maintenance practices and safe handling of fiberglass materials and equipment.

Skills

• Excellent fiberglass repair and restoration skills.
• Proficient in gel coat spraying and high-end polishing techniques.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and repair specifications.\
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
