JOB TITLE: Fisheries Statistician
DEPARTMENT: Fisheries Statistics & Economics Department
RESPONSIBLE TO: HOD Statistics and Fisheries Economics
Job Description
Summary of Duties
Responsible to the Manager of Statistics— responsible for undertaking all statistical operations for specific allocated fisheries or economic unit, assist with fisheries and economic data management systems and conduct statistical and/or economic analysis of fisheries data.

Job Requirements
Education (Special Knowledge) /Qualifications
- First Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science or related field plus relevant work experience (at least two years of professional experience in the fields of fisheries statistics or economics an advantage.)
OR
- Undergraduate Diploma in statistics, mathematics, or fisheries science plus relevant work experience (at least two years of professional experience in the fields of fisheries statistics or economics an advantage)
Required Skills
- Ability to apply statistical and mathematical analysis techniques and tools.
- Particularly good IT and data management skills,
- R programing language and or SQL programing language an advantage
- Good analytical, organizational and management skills.
- Good report drafting skills.
- Effective communication and people skills
- Delegation skills
- Demonstrating integrity/ Responsible/dependable/trustworthy
