The Seychelles Conservation and Climate Adaptation Trust (“SeyCCAT”) was legally established via legislation on November 19, 2015.

The objects of the SeyCCAT are to administer the assets of the Trust intended to provide a sustainable flow of funds to support the long-term management and expansion of the Seychelles system of marine protected areas and other activities which contribute substantially to the conservation, protection and maintenance of biodiversity and the adaptation to the climate change as identified through consultations with stakeholders; and perform exclusively for charitable, educational and scientific purposes for the benefit of the public.

Job Description

Position objectives:

  1. The main objectives are to raise funds to support SeyCCAT’s administrative and operational costs, SeyCCAT’s Blue Grants Fund and Endowment, and to support the cost of implementation of the marine protected areas network
  2. Develop and implement a fundraising strategy; by developing concepts and project proposals, communication materials, pitches, amongst other effective tools
  3. Develop and strengthen partnerships with potential and existing donors.
  4. Responsible for the mentoring of the internal SeyCCAT team and supervising of the fundraising assistant.

The suitable candidate is expected to have:

  • Advanced University degree in any of the following: Marketing, Business Administration, Fundraising or a related technical field. A first level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree


  • At least 7 years professional experience in inter-institutional relationship management, programme development and fundraising;
  • Demonstrable experience of securing and/or managing grants from institutional donors
  • Experience working in or with an international development organisation.
  • Experience of managing oneself and others to deliver financial targets, operational activities and objectives


  • Highly desirable to have experience managing and/or securing funds.
  • Experience of working with international organisations in either a programmes and/or funding capacity.
  • Proven track record of meeting challenging income targets
  • Experience of developing and implementing business plans
  • Proven track record in fundraising that has directly resulted in increased income for an organisation
  • Experience of managing relationships and activities remotely
  • Experience of visiting/living and/or working in developing countries, in particular small island developing States.
