Job Description
Position Overview:
Apex is a distribution business based in the Seychelles. Apex is an importer and leading distributor of fresh, frozen, and FMCG products into the Seychelles hospitality and retail marketplace, with operations spanning across the three largest islands.
We are looking for an energetic and self-motivated professional to join our team to head up the logistics, operations and support functions of our business.
This position is based in Seychelles and reports to the Managing Executive as well as working alongside the Commercial Director. The candidate must have prior experience in managing a company, ideally in warehouse and distribution., preferably in a retail or HORECA environment. The ideal candidate must be driven, decisive, able to multitask and be effective and efficient.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership:Â Oversee the daily operations of the warehouse and distribution network, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and timely delivery of products to customers.
Financial Management: Supervise the Financial Controller to ensure effective financial planning, budgeting, reporting, and cost control across all areas of the business. Monitor and drive profitability and financial sustainability.
Strategic Planning:Â Develop and implement strategic initiatives to optimize operational performance, reduce costs, and improve overall business productivity. Ensure alignment with company goals and industry standards.
Team Leadership & Development:Â Manage and support key personnel including the Warehouse Manager, Ship Supply Manager, Praslin Manager, HR Manager, and IT Manager and the teams that they work with. Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and accountability. Provide guidance and mentorship to departmental leaders and encourage professional development.
Customer Focus:Â Ensure that the warehouse and distribution functions meet customer expectations for service quality, order fulfillment accuracy, and on-time delivery.
Supply Chain Optimization:Â Work closely with the Warehouse Manager and Inbound Manager and their teams to streamline workflows, improve inventory management, and implement best practices in logistics and distribution.
Technology & Systems:Â Work closely with the IT Manager to ensure the appropriate technology infrastructure is in place to support operations, including warehouse management transportation management, and other relevant tools.
Compliance & Safety: Ensure compliance with industry regulations, safety standards, and company policies. Implement and enforce best practices for health and safety across the warehouse and distribution operations.
Performance Reporting: Work collaboratively with the Commercial Director and Managing Executive on operational and financial performance, highlighting achievements, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
Human Resources:Â Collaborate with the HR Manager to ensure effective recruitment, employee engagement, and retention strategies, while also promoting a positive workplace culture.
Job Requirements
Qualifications and Experience
Education: A diploma or degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management or Logistics or relevant equitable work experience
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of senior management experience in warehousing, distribution, or logistics, with a strong understanding of operational management.
Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams, with experience in managing departments such as finance, HR, operations, and IT.
Financial Acumen: Strong understanding of financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
Operational Expertise: In-depth knowledge of warehouse management, inventory control, distribution strategies, and supply chain optimization.
Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify operational inefficiencies and implement corrective actions.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with senior executives, team members, and external partners.
