Job Description

Role Summary:

Apex requires an experienced and dedicated Financial Controller to lead our financial operations and contribute to the overall success of the company. The Financial Controller will play a critical role in managing financial processes, ensuring compliance with regulations, providing strategic financial insights, and contributing to the company’s growth and profitability. The ideal candidate would need to have a strong understanding of financial management, analysis, and reporting.

Responsibilities:

  1. Financial Management:
    • Oversee the company’s day-to-day financial activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions.
    • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, including preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
    • Monitor cash flow, manage working capital, and optimize financial resources to support operational needs.
  2. Financial Planning and Analysis:
    • Develop and manage the company’s annual budgeting process, working closely with department heads to ensure alignment with strategic goals.
    • Analyze financial data and trends to provide actionable insights to senior management for informed decision-making.
    • Prepare financial forecasts and projections, identifying potential risks and opportunities for the business.
  3. Compliance and Reporting:
    • Ensure compliance with local accounting standards, tax regulations, and other statutory requirements in Seychelles.
    • Prepare and submit required financial reports to regulatory bodies and government agencies as necessary.
    • Collaborate with external auditors to facilitate annual audits and ensure accurate financial reporting.
  4. Internal Controls and Risk Management:
    • Establish and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets and prevent financial fraud or mismanagement.
    • Identify and mitigate financial and operational risks, implementing strategies to minimize potential negative impacts.
  5. Strategic Financial Leadership:
    • Provide strategic financial guidance to senior management and contribute to the development and execution of business strategies.
    • Evaluate investment opportunities and potential business expansion, conducting financial feasibility assessments and presenting recommendations.
  6. Team Leadership and Development:
    • Manage and mentor the finance team, fostering a collaborative and high – performance work environment.
    • Coordinate training and development initiatives to enhance the team’s skills and expertise.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related fi eld. Master’s degree or professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, CPA).
  • Proven experience (At least 10 years) in a financial management or controller role, preferably within the retail, wholesale, or distribution sector.
  • In-depth knowledge of Seychelles’ financial regulations, taxation, and compliance requirements.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret financial data to support strategic decision-making.
  • Proficiency in financial soft ware and Microsoft Excel; experience with ERP systems is an advantage.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with a track record of fostering a positive team culture.
  • Attention to detail, high ethical standards, and a commitment to accuracy and integrity in financial reporting.
