The Guy Morel Institute (TGMI) invites applications from suitably qualified and competent Seychellois candidates for the position of Head of Programme.
Job Description
The Head of Programme is responsible for providing effective academic, professional and operational leadership for the assigned programme area. The postholder will lead, manage and develop the programme and its academic activities, ensuring high standards in teaching and learning, programme delivery, learner support, academic quality and continuous improvement.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities of the Head of Programme include, but are not limited to:
- Provide academic leadership and oversee the effective planning, organisation and delivery of teaching and learning activities within the assigned programme area.
- Manage and coordinate the delivery of programmes and courses to ensure that established academic standards, schedules and quality requirements are met.
- Supervise and support academic staff within the programme area and contribute to the effective allocation and management of academic workloads.
- Monitor programme performance and contribute to programme review, evaluation and continuous improvement.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the Institute’s annual Business Plan and other relevant institutional plans.
- Address academic and learner-related matters, including issues referred by lecturers and other academic staff, and ensure appropriate follow-up and resolution.
- Promote and contribute to research, professional development and other scholarly activities within and outside the Institute.
- Contribute to curriculum development, programme accreditation, quality assurance and compliance with applicable academic and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain effective communication and collaboration with staff, learners, Management and relevant internal and external stakeholders.
- Undertake other duties relevant to the position and the effective functioning of the Institute.
Job Requirements
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants must possess:
- A master’s degree in Business Administration, Management, or another relevant field from a recognised institution;
- A minimum of five (5) years of relevant lecturing experience at tertiary or university level;
- Demonstrated experience in academic coordination, programme management or a related leadership role;
- High levels of academic and professional competence; and
- Demonstrated ability to lead, supervise and work effectively with academic staff and learners.
A Postgraduate Certificate in Education, Teaching and Learning, will be an added advantage.
Knowledge, Skills and Competencies
The successful candidate should demonstrate:
- Strong leadership, organisational and supervisory skills;
- Sound knowledge of teaching, learning and assessment practices in tertiary education;
- Ability to manage academic programmes effectively and maintain high academic standards;
- Good analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills;
- An aptitude for research and continuous professional development;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills; and
- Exceptional attention to detail, particularly in written communication, grammar, accuracy and document quality.
