Reports to: Consultant-in-Charge – Accident & Emergency

Responsible for: Hyperbaric Chamber

Job Description

Job Purpose: To be a member of the Chamber Team, providing routine and emergency hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) therapy to patients, on an “as and when” basis, when requested by the chamber.

Key outputs

• To provide a high quality service to patients requiring hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) therapy
• To operate the hyperbaric chambers and to care for people inside the hyperbaric chambers.
• To take part in the on call rota

Key functions

• To behave professionally at all times whilst on duty.
• Each individual must maintain the database in an acceptable manner.
• Clean, decontaminate hyperbaric centre and chamber.
• Maintain operational readiness, replenish equipment and materials.
• Inform Bioengineering of any operation anomalies that disturbs the function of the chamber
• Accompany patients inside chamber.
• To be in a state of alert at all time in case of a diving accident or whenever an emergency recompression is necessary.
• Maintain functionality of the hyperbaric centre in a state of alert for receiving any patient at any time.

Job Requirements

Personal Specification

Qualification

• Certificate as Technician in Decompression Chamber
• Diploma in medical field plus certified Hyperbaric Technology
• IGCSE in English, Maths and Science who have completed the Introductory Hyperbaric Training
• Diving Certificate

Experience

• Two (2) years’ satisfactory work experience in diving
