We are looking for an Internal Audit Technician to join our bank. This role is to support the Internal Audit function in ensuring the effectiveness of internal controls, regulatory compliance, and sound risk management practices across the Bank’s operations.
Job Description
Key Focus and Responsibilities:
- Assist with risk-based internal audits of branches, Head Office units, departments, and specific bank products in line with the approved audit plan.
- Conduct transactional testing, concurrent audits, and spot checks on high-risk areas including cash, ATMs, teller operations, and back-office processes.
- Review key operational processes such as account opening/closing, record retention, daily deposits, and AML/CFT compliance, and identify control gaps or non-compliance.
- Perform physical verification of cash, vaults, and ATMs, ensuring accurate documentation and escalation of discrepancies.
- Document audit findings, prepare working papers, and assist in drafting audit reports and recommendations.
- Support the preparation and updating of audit programmes and checklists in line with IIA Standards, regulatory requirements, and internal policies.
- Verify bond draws and witness the destruction of sensitive assets, ensuring adherence to approvals, dual-control procedures, and regulatory guidelines.
- Communicate audit and spot-check findings promptly to the Internal Audit Manager.
- Participate in mandatory training and continuous professional development to maintain up-to-date knowledge of banking operations, regulations, and audit standards.
Job Requirement
Required Qualifications
- Diploma in Business Studies and Accounting
- ACCA Level 1 or AAT Advanced Diploma
- Additional audit or risk management certifications will be an advantage
Required Experience
- Experience in banking operations
- Prior exposure to an audit function
