INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY UNDER THE MY FIRST JOB SCHEME

The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) is the official agency responsible for the collection, compilation, analysis, and dissemination of official statistics in Seychelles. NBS plays a critical role in supporting evidence-based decision-making, national development planning, policy formulation, and monitoring of national and international development goals.

To support the processing and analysis of ongoing statistical surveys and data collection activities, the National Bureau of Statistics invites applications from eligible young graduates registered under the Government’s My First Job Scheme.

POSITION: INTERN – STATISTICAL DATA PROCESSING AND SURVEY SUPPORT

Duration: Six (6) Months

Location: National Bureau of Statistics, Maison de Providence, Mahé, Seychelles

Monthly Allowance: SCR 5,800 (funded under the My First Job Scheme)

Key Responsibilities

The interns will assist with:

  • Verification and validation of survey data.
  • Data cleaning and quality assurance checks.
  • Coding and classification of survey responses.
  • Filing, organizing, and management of survey documentation.
  • Supporting survey processing and statistical production activities.
  • Assisting in the preparation of datasets for analysis.
  • Providing administrative support related to statistical projects.
  • Undertaking any other duties assigned by supervisors in support of official statistical activities.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Have graduated with A levels, Diploma, Advanced Diploma or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
  • Have been awarded a Government scholarship.
  • Be registered under the Government’s My First Job Scheme.
  • Be available to engage in the work for a period of 6 months. However, applicants who are due to start university during this period may participate until the start of their academic programme.
  • Possess good computer literacy, particularly in Microsoft Excel and other office applications.
  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately with data.
  • Have good communication and organizational skills.
  • Be willing to learn and work in a professional environment.

Statistics / Mathematics / Economics / Data Science / Data Analytics / Information Systems / Computer Science / Business Administration / Social Sciences / Geography and Geographical Information System (GIS) / Demography and Population Studies / Information and Communication Technology (ICT) / Public Administration / Any other relevant field
