Lecturer of Social Sciences – One (1) Position
Job Description
Main Duties and Responsibilities
The primary purpose of these positions is to facilitate learning and training programmes as allocated by the respective Head of Programme.
Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Preparing and delivering lectures, workshops, training sessions, and presentations;
- Preparing examination papers and marking guides in accordance with moderation requirements;
- Assessing students’ assignments and grading their performance;
- Monitoring and reporting regularly on students’ attendance and academic progress;
- Preparing lesson plans and learner support materials;
- Contributing to curriculum development and continuous improvement of programmes;
- Supporting the overall quality of the teaching and learning process at the Institute.
Job Requirements
Qualifications
Applicants should possess:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Behavioural Sciences, Social Sciences, or a related field.
- A Master’s Degree in a relevant field will be an added advantage.
GENERAL EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Applicants for all positions should preferably possess:
- A minimum of two (2) years’ relevant work experience after university;
- Experience in teaching or lecturing at a university or tertiary institution;
- A recognised teaching or training qualification will be an added advantage.
GENERAL COMPETENCIES AND ATTRIBUTES
All applicants should demonstrate:
- In-depth knowledge of the relevant subject area;
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English;
- Strong presentation, interpersonal, and organisational skills;
- Ability to prepare lesson plans, assessments, and learner support materials;
- Ability to use appropriate teaching methodologies, particularly for adult learners;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and online learning platforms;
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team;
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage workload effectively;
- Strong learner-centred focus and commitment to excellence in teaching and learning;
- Professionalism, integrity, and commitment to continuous improvement;
- Ability to work effectively in a multicultural and diverse learning environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
