Legal Advisor
Job Description
Summary of Duties
To serve as the chief legal advisor to the Minister and the Ministry’s Portfolio by providing expert legal advice, ensuring compliance with national and international law, supporting policy development, and representing the Ministry in legal proceedings.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise the Minister, Principal Secretary and Heads of Department on legal matters.
- Represent the Ministry in court, arbitration and mediation proceedings.
- Draft and review legal documents, agreements, regulations and treaties in consultation with the Office of the Attorney General.
- Provide legal support for policy formulation, contract management and enforcement operations.
- Ensure international agreements and conventions are properly domesticated and updated.
- Liaise with local and international bodies on legal issues.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualification and Experience
- Master’s Degree in Law with at least 3 years’ experience as a Senior Legal Officer; OR
- Bachelor’s Degree in Law with at least 4 years’ experience as a Senior Legal Officer.
