Job Summary

The Chief Security Officer & Airport In-Charge is responsible for overseeing all Airport Security and Ground operations, ensuring adherence to safety standards, effective threat response, and high-quality customer service. This role includes managing staff, maintaining operational efficiency, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and company objectives.

Duties & Responsibilities

Security:

  • Maintain security standards as per BCAS guidelines and Law of the Land.
  • Laise with Govt. agencies at the airport and other related departments.
  • Coordinate with airport authorities and government agencies to ensure the smooth functioning of airport activities within regulatory frameworks.
  • Ensure effective risk assessment and response capabilities are in place.
  • Control theft and pilferage of company property through strict monitoring and security protocols.
  • Ensure Emergency Response Procedures, safety rules, and regulations are in place and all staff are thoroughly trained and equipped to follow them.

Ground Handling Agency (GHA) & other stakeholders:

  • Monitor the performance of the GHA to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Regularly review the GHA’s adherence to safety, security, and operational standards, as outlined by the airline and regulatory bodies.
  • Address any issues or gaps in performance, working closely with the GHA to resolve operational challenges.
  • Conduct audits and inspections to ensure quality service delivery and operational efficiency by the GHA.
  • Collaborate with the GHA to manage resources efficiently and ensure smooth airport operations.

Customer Service & Compliance:

  • Ensure the GHA maintains high standards of customer service in line with IndiGo’s quality targets.
  • Address customer complaints and feedback related to ground handling services, working with the GHA to improve processes.
  • Monitor customer service workflows to ensure smooth passenger handling and resolve escalations efficiently.
  • Staffing & Leadership:
  • Lead the airport’s internal teams, ensuring that staff outside the GHA (security, customer service, and administrative teams) are adequately trained and resourced.
  • Provide staff with regular updates on departmental goals, operational changes, and safety protocols.
  • Ensure that internal staff receive continuous development and performance feedback.

Reporting & Documentation:

  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting of operational performance, security incidents, and GHA performance to headquarters.
  • Maintain proper documentation of contracts, audits, safety reports, and compliance records.
  • Oversee the maintenance and upkeep of airport facilities, ensuring they meet operational needs and regulatory standards.

Customer Service Management:

  • Resolve customer complaints and manage queries to maintain IndiGo’s high standards of service quality.
  • Develop simple, efficient processes and procedures that enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Monitor and maintain customer service quality targets as per IndiGo’s standards.
  • Advise staff on departmental goals, provide regular updates, and ensure alignment with overall objectives.

Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement:

  • Continuously monitor the Quality Management System and the level of conformance to standards.
  • Initiate and implement corrective actions to secure and improve quality levels in all areas of airport operations.
  • Establish, maintain, and develop operational procedures within the department to meet quality and safety goals.

Job Requirements

Qualifications

  • Basic AVSEC Certification (valid certificate), for which the requirement is to have a candidate with Indian Passport
  • Graduate

Experience

  • Experience 12+ years of experience working in a similar field is a must.
