- Marine Carpenter -Shore based (1 position)
Job Description
Summary of the duties and responsibilities.
- Constructing, repairing, restoring and maintaining wooden structures, fittings, decks and joinery on marine vessels, pontoons, jetties and other marine facilities.
- Manufacturing and installing high-quality bespoke furniture, cabinetry, shelving, and other custom woodwork to luxury standards.
- Carrying out restoration and preventive maintenance of timber components affected by marine and tropical environmental conditions.
- Preparing, sanding, sealing, staining and spray-applying marine-grade varnishes and protective coatings to achieve superior finishes.
- Reading and interpreting technical drawings, specifications and measurements accurately.
- Operating and maintaining woodworking machinery, hand tools and spray equipment safely and efficiently.
- Working safely on or near water while complying with occupational health, safety and environmental requirements.
- Maintaining a clean, organized and safe work environment while delivering work to the highest standards of quality and craftsmanship

Job Requirements
Minimum job entry requirements
Applicants should possess:
Qualifications
- Certificate, Diploma or Trade Qualification in Carpentry, Joinery, Cabinet Making, Woodworking, Marine Carpentry or a related field.
- Marine Carpentry certification will be an advantage.
Experience
- A minimum of five (5) years relevant experience in professional or marine carpentry.
- Proven experience in high end furniture and cabinetry, timber restoration and marine varnishing and finishing techniques.
- Experience in yacht maintenance or other marine environments will be an advantage.
Competencies
- Sound knowledge of marine timber, marine-grade materials, varnishes and woodworking techniques.
- Excellent carpentry, joinery, cabinet-making and finishing skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Strong problem-solving, organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physically fit and able to work outdoors on or near water in varying weather conditions.
- Professional, reliable, safety-conscious and committed to producing high-quality workmanship
