Position: Night Auditor
Job Description
Position Summary
A Night Auditor is responsible for overseeing the front desk operations during the overnight shift. The primary responsibility of a night auditor is to balance and reconcile the daily financial transactions, perform administrative duties, and ensure the smooth functioning of the hotel operations after hours. This role typically involves accounting tasks, and guest services, responsibilities, ensuring a seamless experience for both guests and the management team.
Responsibilities:
- Reconcile Financial Transactions and verify all transactions that took place during the day, including room charges, restaurant bills, and other charges. Ensure that all transactions are accurately recorded and balanced.
- Generate, prepare and generate financial and operational reports for the day, including income statements, guest billing, and occupancy reports. Ensure these reports are delivered to relevant departments and management.
- Provide assistance to guests during the night shift, including check-ins, check-outs, and addressing any concerns or requests. Ensure a positive guest experience by offering prompt and efficient service.
- Balance Cash and Credit Transactions and ensure that all cash, credit card transactions, and other payments are properly recorded and balanced at the end of the shift.
- Handle customer inquiries and respond to guest inquiries regarding billing, room service, or any other hotel-related issues.
- Review guest folios (accounts) to ensure that charges are correct and that any outstanding balances are settled before check-out.
- Ensure compliance with hotel policies, financial standards, and local regulations regarding guest check-ins, check-outs, and payments.
- Take and confirm reservations for future bookings, especially for guests arriving late at night.
- Handle other administrative duties as required, such as maintaining accurate records of guest interactions, logs of night activities, and inventory checks.
Job Requirements
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong attention to detail, especially in accounting and financial reconciliation.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Proficiency in hotel management software -Opera.
- Knowledge of basic accounting and financial processes.
- Ability to multitask and handle both customer service and administrative duties simultaneously.
- Strong problem-solving skills, especially when handling late-night emergencies or guest complaints.
- Ability to work independently during the overnight shift.
- Reliable, responsible, and able to maintain a high level of professionalism.
- Calm under pressure, particularly in handling difficult situations or emergencies.
- Strong organizational skills to maintain accurate records.
