Job Description
Job Title: Park Ranger (Grade 1)
Responsible to: Assistant Park Officer
Location: Posting in the Curieuse MNP (Part time, December 2024- February 2025)
Job Summary
Ensuring effective and efficient management, enforcement and conservation activities of all marine related laws of the Seychelles pertaining to the governance of Marine National Parks. (National Parks and Nature Conservancy Act, Fisheries Act, Protected Area Act, Wild Animal Act, Environment Protection Act and Birds Act).
Participate actively in the management of Curieuse Marine National Park which includes, research and monitoring activities, educational activities, maintenance activities and eco-tourism activities.
Posting:
In the Curieuse Marine National Park, however it may require to work in other Parks as necessitated by the management.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Your duties and responsibilities as a Park Ranger Grade 1 are outline under the five main groups of activities.
1. Management:
- Contribute to the compilations of reports (daily and weekly activities, poaching incidents, fuel usage and maintenance report)
- Represent SPGA in seminars, meetings and workshops
- Engage in the implementation of Management Plan
2. Enforcement:
- Enforce anti-poaching activities (Patrols, Reconnaissance) and comply with the laws governing the Marine National Parks.
- Monitor visitors activities/issuing fix penalty (FINES) if Marine laws has been violated.
- Writing of reports (Daily Report, Patrol Log, Police statement & Incident report) and submit accurate data to superior officers of the Park.
- Assist with prosecutions of case related to the enforcement activities of all Marine National Parks.
3. Research and Monitoring:
- Responsible to collect and input data related to monitoring programmes established in all Marine National Parks
- Assist scientist (Local and International) in all Research related programmes
4. Eco-Tourism
- Interactions with visitors in parks and provide necessary information requested about the management, eco-systems and other related information of any Marine National Parks.
- Provide support to visitors as and when required
5. Education and Awareness activities:
- Participate in Educational programs (Filming, Photography, Presentations, Sensitization, and Talks) established for all Marine National Parks.
- Engage in international environment events
6. Maintenance:
- Ensure that SPGA assets such as : (boats/engines/infrastructures, compound & other tools) are well maintain, kept clean & tidy.
- Provide Support with any mechanical problem /Boat maintenance
- Maintenance of Mooring buoys in line with maintenance schedule.

Job Requirements
Minimum qualification and experience
- A levels Biology, Physics, Chemistry & Geography or equivalent plus 3 years’ experience
- Advance certificate in Maritime Studies or any marine related field
- , plus 2 years work experience;
OR
- Any marine related level of education equivalent to the above.
Other Requirements:
- First aid skills and swimming is essential, diving experience an advantage.
- Experience in boat handling is a plus.
- Good interpersonal skills, innovative, and must be able to work independently on remote sites.
- Good customer care experience.
