Job Description
Job Purpose:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
To dispense and provide counselling on medication prescribed by a medical Practitioner.
Key Outputs:
- Medication dispensed as per prescription.
- Stocks control carried out as per protocol.
- Information verified for accuracy.
- Clients profile established and recorded appropriately.
- Inventory well verified and updated routinely.
- Medication and filling bottles labelled.
- Client prescription details verified and confirmed.
- Appropriate counselling on medication provided to all clients.
Key Functions:
- Dispensing medicinal and pharmaceutical products.
- Counselling of clients/patients on use of medication.
- Filing and maintaining up to date tally cards or master file system for all medicinal and pharmaceutical products.
- Recording proper records for:
- Daily prescription statistics and prescription for non-stock and consultant items;
- Register of prescriptions for narcotics
- Monitoring stock control level and requesting regularly supplies of all pharmaceutical product.
- Storing of all pharmaceutical at the required conditions and checking expiry dates of drug items regularly.
- Distributing pharmaceutical and medicinal products to wards and regional hospital through requisition (Ward, specialized Outpatient Clinic Pharmacy)
- Performing checks on the ward floor stock, emergency trays medicine cupboards and ensuring drugs are stored at the required conditions (Ward Pharmacy).
- Communicating with medical professional in the hospital or health centre providing effective patient care.
- Preparing of cytotoxic drugs and IV additives (Ward Pharmacy).

a) Qualifications
- Must have a Diploma in Pharmaceutical Science
- Must be registered with Allied Health Professional’s Council
