Job Description

Job Purpose

Responsible for conducting initial assessments to evaluate and provide psychological treatment, counselling, and therapy to clients who are experiencing a wide range of emotional, behavioural, and mental health issues.

Functional

  • Perform initial assessments of clients to determine their mental and emotional state, their current situation, and their treatment needs.
  • Supervise the Human Service section
  • Develop and implement treatment plans based on the assessment that outlines therapeutic techniques and approaches to address clients’ mental health issues.
  • Provide individual, couples, family, and group therapy to clients, using various techniques such as cognitive-behavioural therapy, family therapy, or psychodynamic therapy.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of treatment plans, making adjustments and modifications as needed.
  • Keep accurate and up-to-date records of client progress, treatment plans, and other relevant information.
  • Collaborate and consult with other mental health professionals, such as psychiatrists, social workers, and counsellors, as needed.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and training to stay current with new research and techniques in the field of psychotherapy.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and ethical standards in all aspects of client care.
  • Attend regular supervision meetings and continuing education workshops to stay up to date with the latest research, techniques, and ethical standards.
  • Participate in supervision and consultation with the Supervisor and attend regular meetings.
  • Maintain positive relationships with clients, their families, and other stakeholders in the community.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of client sessions, treatment plans, and progress.
  • Remain accessible after working hours and on weekends.
  • Mentor and coach students and other professionals within and outside their organization.
  • Work unsocial hours to deal with crises at an individual client level such as in the case of suicidal clients.
  • Work with issues that are associated with mental fatigue hence high risk for burnout.
  • Provide psychological services to a large population.
  • Provide services to clients in more than 1 location, e.g. schools all over the islands, home visits all over the islands

Essential Qualifications/Experience

  • Master’s degree in a specialised area of psychotherapist plus eight years post-qualifying.
  • Chartered Psychologist or Equivalent/Doctorate plus eight years post-qualifying experience –PhD plus eight years post-qualifying experience.
