Job Description
Job Purpose
Responsible for conducting initial assessments to evaluate and provide psychological treatment, counselling, and therapy to clients who are experiencing a wide range of emotional, behavioural, and mental health issues.
Functional
- Perform initial assessments of clients to determine their mental and emotional state, their current situation, and their treatment needs.
- Supervise the Human Service section
- Develop and implement treatment plans based on the assessment that outlines therapeutic techniques and approaches to address clients’ mental health issues.
- Provide individual, couples, family, and group therapy to clients, using various techniques such as cognitive-behavioural therapy, family therapy, or psychodynamic therapy.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of treatment plans, making adjustments and modifications as needed.
- Keep accurate and up-to-date records of client progress, treatment plans, and other relevant information.
- Collaborate and consult with other mental health professionals, such as psychiatrists, social workers, and counsellors, as needed.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and training to stay current with new research and techniques in the field of psychotherapy.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and ethical standards in all aspects of client care.
- Attend regular supervision meetings and continuing education workshops to stay up to date with the latest research, techniques, and ethical standards.
- Participate in supervision and consultation with the Supervisor and attend regular meetings.
- Maintain positive relationships with clients, their families, and other stakeholders in the community.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of client sessions, treatment plans, and progress.
- Remain accessible after working hours and on weekends.
- Mentor and coach students and other professionals within and outside their organization.
- Work unsocial hours to deal with crises at an individual client level such as in the case of suicidal clients.
- Work with issues that are associated with mental fatigue hence high risk for burnout.
- Provide psychological services to a large population.
- Provide services to clients in more than 1 location, e.g. schools all over the islands, home visits all over the islands

Essential Qualifications/Experience
- Master’s degree in a specialised area of psychotherapist plus eight years post-qualifying.
- Chartered Psychologist or Equivalent/Doctorate plus eight years post-qualifying experience –PhD plus eight years post-qualifying experience.
