Job Description
General Purpose
The Blue Economy Department is the primary coordination mechanism in Seychelles’ Sustainable Development Strategy in transitioning towards a blue economy. The Department play a pivotal role in coordinating communication between pertinent ministries and monitoring various developments with regards to the development and implementation of the blue economy on the national, regional and international scale.
Preliminary duties:
- Assisting with the finalisation and implementation of strategies to finalize the delimitation of Seychelles’ outstanding maritime boundaries;
- Implementation of activities that would facilitate the management of the extended continental shelf
- Preparation of Information Notes, Briefs, and other pertinent documents on ocean governance matters upon request;
- Develop and propose new programmes related to Ocean Governance that align with national Blue Economy goals.
- Collect, analyze, and report on national programmes related to Ocean Governance
- Contribute to the development of national policies and strategies related to Blue Economy sectors such as fisheries, renewable energy, and marine conservation.
- Create and disseminate informational materials to raise awareness about Blue Economy opportunities and challenges linked to Ocean Governance
- Represent the Blue Economy Department at Conferences and or meetings locally or internationally as instructed
- Collaborate with key stakeholders

Job Requirement
Recognised qualifications and requirements for the post
- Bachelor Degree in, Environmental Science, Economics, Resource Management or related field
- At least 3-5 years of experience in programme development, project management, or policy development, preferably in the Blue Economy, marine conservation, or sustainable development sectors.
- Experience working with international organizations, government agencies, or NGOs in marine or coastal resource management.
- Strong understanding of Blue Economy sectors such as fisheries, aquaculture, renewable energy, ocean conservation, and maritime industries.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
