Project Description
The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) will be conducting the Census of Economic Activities (CEA) across Mahe, Praslin & La Digue during the months of March – May 2026.
This CEA is a national business census aimed at collecting comprehensive information on the structure, performance, and operational characteristics of businesses in Seychelles, including their size, distribution and composition. To support this important national exercise, NBS is seeking to recruit dedicated, reliable and motivated individuals with a basic understanding of economics, business or finance to serve as field enumerators (data collectors).
Job Description
Over the three months period, each data collector will be assigned a specific number of businesses within designated districts to interview and collect data from using electronic tablets.
Work will be conducted on a part-time and flexible basis, with field activities scheduled between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday to Sunday.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Attend and successfully complete all compulsory training sessions organized by NBS.
- Acquire full familiarity with the CEA questionnaire and electronic data collection tools (tablet-based).
- Use provided maps to locate and visit assigned businesses.
- Conduct professional and courteous face-to-face interviews with business owners or representatives.
- Maintain regular communication with supervisors to receive assignments and submit completed work.
- Collect and submit accurate data within specified deadlines.
- Ensure all information collected adheres to confidentiality, quality, and ethical standards established during training.

Job Requirements
Qualifications & Skills required
- Minimum of Secondary school completion
- Back ground knowledge in Economics, Business or Finance will be an advantage
- Prior experience of data collection (surveys or censuses) is desirable.
- Must be computer literate and able to operate electronic devices for data entry.
- Ability to follow instructions carefully and work well both independently and in a team.
- Must be willing to walk long distances and work under field conditions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
