Position Summary

A restaurant runner is responsible for supporting F&B staff by delivering food and beverages from the kitchen to customers, assisting with the setup and cleanup of tables, and ensuring a smooth and efficient flow of service. They play a crucial role in maintaining the speed and quality of service, ensuring that orders are delivered promptly and accurately to customers.

Responsibilities

  • Transport food and drinks from the kitchen to the dining area, ensuring that the orders are correct and served at the right temperature.
  • Help set tables before guests arrive, including arranging napkins, silverware, glassware, and condiments.
  • Clear plates, utensils, and glasses, and prepare the table for the next set of customers.
  • Assist waiters and waitresses with their duties by providing additional support as needed, such as delivering additional items or refilling drinks.
  • Ensure that orders are delivered correctly and efficiently and communicate with kitchen staff regarding any issues or special requests.
  • Ensure that all areas of the dining room, kitchen, and service areas are clean, organized, and presentable.
  • Replenish stock of necessary supplies such as napkins, silverware, or condiments as required during service.
  • While not primarily customer-facing, runners may need to assist with small guest requests, ensuring customer satisfaction and assisting with customer interactions when needed.
  • Ensure food is delivered as prepared, checking for any errors in the order before it reaches the customer.
  • Follow all health, safety, and sanitation protocols to ensure a safe working environment for both staff and customers.

Job Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Physical stamina to stand for long periods and carry trays of food and beverages.
  • Attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks at once.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Previous experience in a restaurant or hospitality setting is a plus.
  • Knowledge of food safety practices and standards is an advantage.
  • Flexible to work shift as well as weekend and public holidays.
