Job Description

Position Summary

Secure premises and personnel by patrolling property; monitoring surveillance equipment; inspecting buildings, equipment and access points; permitting entry. Obtain help by sounding alarms. Responding to emergencies. Prevent losses and damage by reporting irregularities, informing violators of policy and procedures; restraining trespassers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Surveillance

• Hotel Safety & Security officers must watch for unusual, illegal or dangerous activities occurring on the premises. They will often patrol hallways, parking lots, stairwells, lobbies, bars and restaurants. Some guards might be assigned to a stationary post, such as beside an entrance. In hotels with video surveillance equipment, a security officer might spend all or part of his shift watching the monitors for any suspicious activity.

Escort Guests and Employees

• Occasionally should a guest becomes intoxicated or combative. Depending on the circumstances in accordance with the hotel policy, the security officer may evict the guest, escort him to a taxi or detain him for the police. Security officers might also need to evict loiterers or trespassers from time to time. Upon request, security guards should escort employees or guests to their vehicles, especially if valet parking is unavailable and it is late at night.

Respond to Calls

• Fellow employees sometimes need assistance in dealing with a belligerent guest and call security for help. Guests might report a disturbance originating in another room or a suspicious character loitering in the stairwell. Safety & Security Officers may be dispatched by telephone or radio to assist or investigate.

Maintain Order

• Safety & Security Officers may have to prevent children from swimming in the pool or ocean alone were adult supervision is required for minors. In and around restaurant and bar areas Safety & Security officers may be required to screen guests to ensure they are of age. Safety & Security officers might be tasked with informing guests they are parked in a restricted area. In an emergency situation, Safety & Security officers might direct evacuation, or if a false alarm has sounded, they might need to help calm guests.

Complete Reports

• Safety & Security officers are to keep a log or prepare a report of all activities during their shift. These logs record unusual occurrences, as well as routine actions. Safety & Security officers must make notes if they must evict a loiterer, find an unlocked door that should have been locked or respond to a guest’s complaint. Logs may be handwritten or entered into a computer, depending on the location.

Banking

• Safety & Security officers will do escort in Banking duties meaning to provide safe passage of the cash & cheques between Mango House Properties or to the bank and vice versa by strict adhering to the security banking procedure.

Fire Safety

• Safety & Security officers will be trained in fire safety and participate fully in exercise to keep personal readiness and alertness for any fire eventuality. Know locations of all Manual Call Points, Fire Extiguishers, hose reels and all other fire and emergency equipment.

First Aid

• Safety & Security officers will be trained and certified first aiders and required to assist with any incidents, events of accidents where first aid is required for Team members, guests and visitors.

SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS

In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the Safety & Security Manager based upon the particular requirements of the hotel operations.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:

• Lateral service within the hotel across departments
• Any task assigned by the manager for the purpose of guest experience or Hotel Operation

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be required when performing work duties that may have the potential of risk to your health or safety. The hotel will provide the required PPE. Team members will be trained in the proper use and care of any assigned PPE. It is your responsibility to report defective, damaged or lost PPE, or equipment that does not fit properly, to your Manager.

GROOMING

All Team Members must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance. Specific uniform guidelines and/or required articles of clothing will be explained to you as a part of the orientation process. The hospitality business functions seven (7) days a week, twenty-four hours a day. In addition, this is a hospitality business and a hospitable service atmosphere must be projected at all times.
