Position: Senior Credit Officer
Responsible to: Head of Department
Job Description
Job Summary:
Responsible for credit evaluation and processing of loan applications ensuring compliance with credit policies and guidelines. Analyse financial information, assess credit risk, and make recommendation for credit decisions. Monitor existing loan portfolios and identify potential credit issues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate credit worthiness of loan applicants by reviewing financial statements, credit reports, and other relevant information;
- Analyse credit data and financial statements to determine the level of credit risk associated with each loan application;
- Make recommendations on credit approval or denials based on the credit analysis and risk;
- Ensure compliance with the Bank’s credit policies and regulatory requirements;
- Prepare credit reports and documentation for management review and decision-making;
- Develop and maintain relationships with clients to better understand their financial situations and needs;
- Monitor and assess the performance of existing loan portfolios to identify potential credit issues and take appropriate actions;
- Perform visits to borrower’s project as needed and prepare revision proposals for approval;
- Collaborate with other Divisions/Departments, such as Risk Management, Treasury Management, Customer Service, Legal and Complaints, and Branch Offices, to facilitate the loan approval process;
- Provide guidance and support to Credit Officers and junior staff in the Department;
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge on industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory changes that may impact credit decisions;
- Management of IFRS9 Expected Credit Loss.

Requirements
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Banking and Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, ACCA or equivalent in a related field. Relevant work experience in credit analysis or lending in banking or a financial institution will be an advantage; or
- 5 years satisfactory experience as a Credit Officer, plus achievement of a relevant professional Commercial Banking qualification.

- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite with excellent excel skills
