Job Summary
The Senior Engineer oversees the efficient operation of the workshop, ensuring optimal vehicle maintenance, cost control, and staff performance. This role involves diagnosing complex mechanical and electrical faults in modern buses (including Euro 4/5/6 and electric/hybrid systems), implementing new technologies, and training staff on advancements in automotive engineering. The Senior Engineer ensures compliance with safety standards, reduces operational costs, and enhances workshop productivity.

Job Requirements
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Workshop Operations & Efficiency
- Supervise daily workshop activities, ensuring timely and cost-effective repairs and maintenance. Ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations (especially for high-emission engines).
Technical Expertise & Modern Vehicle Diagnostics
- Diagnose and troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, and electronic faults in modern buses (including Euro 4/5/6, and, hybrid). Oversee the use of diagnostic tools (OBD-II, OEM software, Ashok Leyland diagnostic tool) for accurate fault detection.
Staff Training & Development
Train and mentor technicians on new bus technologies, diagnostic methods, and repair techniques. Develop structured training programs on modern engine systems, Euro 4/5/6 and hybrid vehicles, and manual & automatic transmissions.
Process Improvement & Compliance
- Review and enhance workshop procedures for efficiency and safety. Ensure adherence to manufacturer guidelines and warranty requirements. Prepare reports on workshop performance, cost savings, and defect trends.
Qualification/Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Automotive/Mechanical Engineering (or Diploma with 10+ years’ experience).
- Certification in modern vehicle diagnostics (e.g., Euro 4/5/6/Hybrid systems, OEM training).
- 5+ years in workshop management, preferably in buses & heavy vehicle maintenance.
- Experience in Ashok Leyland and TATA Euro 4/5/6 buses & heavy vehicles

- Leadership & team management.
- Strong problem-solving & decision-making.
- Effective communication (technical training delivery).
