Job Summary

Summary of Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. To be the focal person on national issues vis-à-vis other organizations;
  2. Develop and maintain close liaison with different Ministries and Organizations as appropriate for the efficient operation of the Minister’s office;
  3. Liaise with different Heads of Divisions and Sections and all external agencies on behalf of the Minister’s office to prepare all press releases and other communications related to the Ministry;
  4. Prepare, facilitate and coordinate all media programmes for the Ministry;
  5. Draft and prepare for the publication of press releases, news, and articles in accordance with the Ministry’s policies and guidelines;
  6. Compile brief documents on relevant issues for the Minister;
  7. Prepare brief statement on topical issues for the information of the Minister;
  8. To contribute to planning of and arrangement of events, in particular regarding programmes, content, design and production;
  9. Prepare periodic report on national issues and make recommendations to the Minister as necessary;
  10. Prepare relevant speeches in close collaboration with the different Heads of Divisions;
  11. Provide assistance to management regarding public relations activities;
  12. Ensure high quality media coverage for the ministry’s website and public relations materials;
  13. Maintain good relationship with the public media;
  14. Consult with external specialist regarding public relations problems or public interviews;
  15. Consult with relevant stakeholders with regards to related promotional events;
  16. Manage public related programmes;
  17. Any cognate duties as may be assigned by the Minister.

Benefits

Salary grade: SB6–SB7

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualification & Requirement

  • BA in Public Relations or Communication; OR
  • BA in related field with two (2) years of work experience at Senior Officer level

Personal Specification

  • Must be pleasant and courteous;
  • Must be able to meet deadlines;
  • Must be prepared to work extra and irregular hours (including weekends) whenever the need arises;
  • Strict confidentiality must be maintained at all times;
  • Must be proficient in communication both oral and written;
  • Demonstrate strong teamwork skills.
