Job Title: Senior Software and Database Administrator
Division/Section: Secretariat
Responsible To: IT Manager
Job Description
Summary of Duties
The Senior Software and Database Administrator will work with the IT team to manage and develop an understanding of data and information needs, identify solutions and improve the quality of service while providing support through the logical and physical design of software and databases.

Job Requirements
Education (Special Knowledge) /Qualifications
- MSc in Information Technology/ Computer Science or a related field, with a minimum of at least Three (3) years of software and database experience as a Database Administrator or Software Engineer with some demonstrated experience including experience installing, configuring, designing, patching, and monitoring to include software and database performance tuning.
OR
- BSc Degree in Information Technology/ Computer Science, with a minimum of at least Five (5) years of software and database experience as a Database Administrator or Software Engineer with some demonstrated experience including experience installing, configuring, designing, patching, and monitoring to include software and database performance tuning.
Required Skills
- Install, design, manage, and maintain the authority’s database systems.
- Monitor, analyse, and optimise database performance and troubleshoot issues.
- Maintain database dictionaries and support tools; develop and maintain accurate system documentation.
- Oversee and assist in installing, managing, and maintaining the authority’s software applications.
- Manage software updates, patches, and bug fixes.
- Troubleshoot and resolve software-related issues.
- Identify and address performance bottlenecks in software and database systems.
- Identify and propose systems to replace manual procedures and enhance efficiency in the authority.
- Implement best practices for optimisation and scalability.
