Position: Senior Treasury Officer

Responsible to: Chief Treasury Officer

Job Description

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Chief Treasury Officer, the Senior Treasury Officer will work closely with key finance, risk and business unit stakeholders to support with the balance sheet management functions of the Bank namely asset & liability management (ALM), liquidity & funding, capital management and prudent investment management of the Bank’s surplus funds while ensuring that the Bank strictly adheres to all relevant internal policies and regulatory requirements. The senior Treasury management officer will also provide key support in driving the delivery and implementation of key Treasury Management projects/products/systems to help drive forward Nouvobanq’s agenda.

Key Responsibilities:

Liquidity, Funding and Investment Management

  • Work closely with the Finance department to review the balance sheet position against the planned budget forecasts at asset and liability product levels to understand balance sheet trends.
  • Manage the funding position of the Bank and perform liquidity cash flow forecasts and monitoring to ensure that adequate liquidity is maintained to meet the Bank’s maturing obligations and minimum reserve requirements.
  • Prepare investments proposals and manage investments of the Bank surplus funds in approved investments instruments as per the Bank’s policy.
  • Monitor and report adherence of liquidity, funding and investment positions to all internal limits and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct domestic and international economic, market and banking sector updates on a regular and timely basis as regular input in the Asset and Liability Management Committee agenda.

Asset and Liability Management (ALM)

  • Develop a sound understanding of the Bank’s balance sheet structures, dynamics of assets and liabilities management and the link to the Profit and Loss to be able to actively perform value-added analysis and recommend balance sheet actions to enhance value.
  • Support the Bank to achieve an appropriate risk profile by identifying investment risks and suggesting netting and hedging actions through investment actions for approval by the Asset and Liability Management Committee (ALCO) to enhance value

Capital Management

  • Assist with capital management initiatives to enhance value and ensuring the Bank remains well capitalised.
  • Support in coordinating the Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment (ICAAP) process.

Asset and Liability Management Committee (ALCO)

  • Assist with providing effective secretariat support to the Bank’s Asset and Liability Management Committee.
  • Coordinate relevant assets and liabilities information from ALCO members, internal and external stakeholders and  ensuring the timely production of ALCO packs to the required standards.

Financial Institution Relationship Management

  • Assist with building and managing relationship with domestic and international financial institutions.

Treasury Project Management

  • Provide support in the driving of the delivery and implementation of key Treasury Management related projects/products/systems and initiatives

Requirements

Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor Degree in Accounting and Finance, or Banking and Finance, or related field with 3 years experience in Banking or financial services; or

ACCA Applied Skills Level with at least 5 years experience in Banking or financial services.

  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skill, short report writing and presentation skills;
  • Knowledge of Treasury, Foreign exchange, Retail and Corporate banking products and banking across segments;
  • Financial Risk management skills;
  • Leadership and coaching skills to be able to empower junior colleagues;
  • Strong planning and organization skills in a fast-paced environment;
  • Pragmatic and proactive approach in nature;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Highly able to work with colleagues across departments and effectively communicate and articulate rationale;
  • Team player working with colleagues across departments with the ability to effectively communicate and articulate the rationale for liquidity control and coordinate with multiple stakeholders;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Excel, PowerPoint and Word;
  • Project management skills and experience is ideal;
  • Accounting knowledge – treasury accounting and financial reporting;
  • Conversant with the policies, procedures and ethical requirements of Treasury management in a Banking environment.
