Job Description

As Skipper your primary duties and responsibilities, amongst others, shall be to:

1. Observe all regulatory obligations that are required for the position, including maintaining a valid skipper’s license, radio certificate, firefighting, first aid certificate, personal safety and social responsibilities certificate, personal survival techniques certificate, ship security awareness certificate etc.
2. Be in charge of the vessel whilst on charter and assume the responsibility for the safety and well being of the clients and crew.
3. At no time are they expected to compromise safety in order to satisfy customer desires, expectations or needs, i.e. landing on dangerous beaches, allowing clients to drink excessively and to a point where they endanger themselves or the vessel.
4. Skipper have to ensure that at all times his boat is in a safe and seaworthy condition and ready for charter. If not management must be notified.
5. All accidents/incidents must be reported as per SMSA requirements and management must be notified.
6. Skipper is required to maintain all documentation relevant to boat as per SMSA
7. Skipper is responsible for the maintenance and appearance of the boat, this includes responsibility for cleanliness and pumping out of the boats.
8. Skipper is responsible for the provision and maintenance of fishing tackle, electronic devices, ropes, cushions etc
9. Skipper is responsible for the conduct of other company staff during the trip and obliged to report irregularities to management.
10. Skipper is at all times required to observe and operate within the laws and regulations in force in Seychelles.
11. Skipper is required to secure the boat safely at the wharf, jetty or mooring and ensure the boat is left in secure state with all windows, doors, vents closed and follow SMSA procedures for engine room shutdown and domestic systems ie water pumps, gas bottles, barbeque bottles are to be turned off.
12. Promote all aspects of water sports/boating/diving activities to clients.
