Job Description

Job Summary

Responsible for the painting and refinishing of automotive equipment. Having the skills in the use and operation of automotive painting equipment and the ability to complete lay outs and paints signs including freehand lettering are needed.

DUTIES

1. Prepares paint to desired colour and consistency. Balancing and layering colors.
2. Prepares spraying equipment such as cleaning or adjusting spray gun.
3. Fills cavities and dents with putty to attain smooth surface, including sanding, filling and chiselling vehicle as part of its preparation.
4. Cleans vehicle to be painted. Apply coats of primer. Apply the main paint, followed by the finish.
5. Masks glass and other appropriate areas prior to application of paint with spray gun or brush.
6. Applies decals to machinery, vehicles, boats and equipment.
7. Check finished jobs as part of quality control.
8. Regulate the temperature and air circulation in drying ovens.
9. Operate automated painting systems.
10. Responsible for the cleanliness spray boot and general workspace.
11. Maintain a proper log book recording the completed jobs including materials used and time frame to complete the projects.
12. Ensure safety gears are always used properly whenever on duty.
13. Effectively and efficiently maintain the standards of the (ISO) quality management system of company.
14. Any other related duties that may be assigned.

Job Requirements

EDUCATION (KNOWLEDGE):

• Must be a graduate of vocational course in Auto Spray Painting or any related course.

TRAINING (SKILLS):

• Must have wide knowledge and skills in auto spray painting
• Knowledge in mixing variation of colors.
• Knowledge and ability to spray balance colors.
• Knowledge and ability to use spray materials
• Must have taste in choosing colors and design.
• Knowledge in sanding, filling and chiseling vehicles.
• Must have good communication skills.
• Must independently determine work methods in accordance with standard automotive painting practices.
• Skills in the use and operation of automotive painting equipment and the ability to complete lay-outs and paints signs including freehand lettering are needed.

EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum of 2-3 years experience in the same field.

WORKING HOURS

Your normal weekly working hours will be from Monday to Friday plus 4 hours on alternate Saturdays.

SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS

Hours of work will be flexible, to ensure and satisfy all operational requirement of the Workshop –Land/Marine.
