Position Summary

Steward is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and organization in the kitchen and dining areas by ensuring that all dishware, glassware, utensils, and kitchen equipment are properly cleaned, sanitized, and stored. The Steward plays an integral role in supporting kitchen operations and ensuring that sanitation and hygiene standards are upheld. This position requires a proactive and detail-oriented individual who can work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Wash dishes, glassware, utensils, and cooking equipment using commercial dishwashing machines or by hand as required.
• Clean and sanitize kitchen floors, surfaces, walls, and other areas to maintain a high standard of cleanliness.
• Organize and store clean dishes, utensils, and equipment in appropriate areas.
• Ensure all dishwashing and cleaning materials are used in accordance with safety and sanitation standards.
• Maintain a clean and organized dishwashing area, including trash and recycling disposal.
• Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to the supervisor or manager.
• Assist the kitchen staff with cleaning duties during peak hours or as needed.
• Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and notify management when stock is low.
• Follow all safety and health regulations, including proper handling and storage of chemicals and cleaning agents.
• Ensure that all areas of the kitchen and dining areas are compliant with health and safety codes.
• Previous experience as a steward.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to lift heavy items, stand for long periods, and perform physical tasks.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
