Job Description
Job Summary
The Third Secretary will assume responsibilities in the Bilateral Affairs Division and contribute towards maintaining and promoting the foreign policy objectives of Seychelles.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Co-ordinate and manage Seychelles’ relations with bilateral partners according to the list of countries under his/her responsibilities, in order to ensure effective monitoring and follow-up.
- Co-ordinate with other Government Ministries/Departments, (including Seychelles’ Missions and Consulates based in Seychelles and overseas) and with other public and private agencies to ensure effective monitoring and follow-up with respect to 1 above.
- Prepare and update briefs, talking points on a regular basis, on countries according to his/her desk officer responsibilities.
- Assist in the preparation of memoranda on Seychelles’ position on current affairs in the context of his/her responsibilities and provide advice to the Director and Director General on the stance Seychelles should adopt.
- Prepare dossiers on issues to be discussed at regional and international conferences, both in Seychelles and overseas, for the Department and where appropriate for other government Ministries and Departments.
- Prepare the visit of foreign delegations and Ambassadors in Seychelles and where appropriate accompany them in their meetings with Seychelles’ Officials.
- Undertake analytical research on the evolution of political, social and economic developments at the national, regional and international levels within the ambit of his/her responsibilities.
- Follow national and international developments in the economic and/or social sectors assigned, and where necessary prepare briefing notes and/or provide appropriate guidance to other officials of the Department with respect to the conduct of Seychelles’ foreign policy.
Benefits
Salary Band: B5 – Step 8 plus SOS Allowance
Job Requirements
Minimum Qualification
- Degree in International Studies or equivalent plus six months up to one year on the job training
OR
- Degree in English , French and/or History plus six months up to one year on the job training
OR
- Advanced Diploma in International studies or equivalent plus at least two years satisfactory and relevant post qualifying experience.
