Job Description
PURPOSE
The Trade Merchandiser is responsible for ensuring optimal product visibility, availability, and presentation at point of sale. The role focuses on executing merchandising standards, supporting promotions, and strengthening brand presence to drive sales growth and customer satisfaction.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Merchandising & Display
- Ensure correct product placement, shelving, and planogram compliance in all assigned outlets.
- Maintain clean, organized, and attractive displays in line with company and brand standards.
- Ensure correct pricing, shelf labels, and promotional materials are displayed at all times.
- Rotate stock according to FIFO principles and remove damaged or expired products.
- Stock Management
- Monitor stock levels and identify out-of-stock or slow-moving items.
- Coordinate with Sales Representatives and Store Managers to place replenishment orders.
- Report stock shortages, excess stock, or competitor activity to management.
- Promotions & Activations
- Implement in-store promotions, launches, and special displays as per marketing plans.
- Ensure promotional materials (posters, wobblers, stands, etc.) are properly installed.
- Provide feedback on promotion effectiveness and in-store execution.
- Store Relationship Management
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with store managers and staff.
- Address merchandising issues promptly and professionally.
- Act as a brand ambassador at all times.
- Reporting & Administration
- Submit daily/weekly visit reports, including photos where required.
- Record outlet visits, display compliance, stock levels, and competitor insights.
- Follow assigned routes and visit schedules strictly.
- Compliance & Conduct
- Adhere to company policies, health & safety, and merchandising guidelines.
- Maintain company assets and uniforms in good condition.
- Always represent the company professionally.
- Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Display compliance and planogram adherence
- Product availability and reduced out-of-stock levels
- Execution of promotions on time and to standard
- Outlet coverage and visit frequency
- Quality and accuracy of reports

Job Requirements
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum secondary school education
- Previous experience in merchandising or FMCG sales is an advantage
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Physically fit and able to handle stock and displays
- Basic numeracy and record-keeping skills
