Job Description
Job summary
Recruits successfully completing the probation period and theoretical/practical training will be confirmed in post and attached to an operational watch for a minimum period of six months in order to gain practical experience. During this period they will be monitored and assessed by a Watch commander.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
- Depending upon assignment, Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
- Attend in-service training sessions to learn firefighting strategies and tactics, equipment operation, medical aid, and Sea Rescue Operations.
- Carry out firefighting and rescue duties under supervision.
- Learn to perform salvage operations and perform general clean-up at the fire scene.
- Perform routine housekeeping duties at the fire station.
- Learn to perform limited repair and maintenance work on fire equipment and apparatus.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Training
All recruits will attend a 12 months training course and will be expected to pass the Basic Fire fighter Course and Firemen Ship in Aviation Fire Fighting and Rescue as per established training program. After that they will be enrolled onto either the Cadet Cadre or the Fire Fighting Level 2, depending on their qualifications.

Job Requirements
Minimum Qualifications/Skills/Experience
- Secondary school level of education.
- Candidates with IGCSE (O levels) & A levels in English, Maths, and Science Subjects will be preferred, however candidates without the above may be considered provided they have sound knowledge in Maths and science subjects.
- Normal color perception; Possession of at least 20/100 uncorrected vision in each eye, corrected to 20/20 in one eye and 20/30 in the other eye.
- Successfully pass physical testing and a medical examination.
- No medical history of pyrophobia, acrophobia, or claustrophobia.
- Must have a clean police record.
