Regional Coordination Operations Center

The Regional Coordination Operations Centre (RCOC) is seeking a dedicated and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Watch-stander.

The Watch-stander will play a crucial role in monitoring and supporting maritime security operations in the western Indian Ocean region. This position involves working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and requires a keen eye for detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to respond swiftly to emerging situations.

Job Description

Summary of Duties

  • Monitor Maritime Activities: Continuously monitor maritime traffic, activities, and incidents using advanced surveillance systems and tools.
  • Situation Reporting: Provide timely and accurate reports on maritime security incidents, potential threats, and other relevant activities to senior RCOC staff and partner agencies.
  • Data Management: Maintain detailed logs and databases of maritime incidents and operational activities.
  • Communication: Facilitate effective communication between the RCOC and various maritime stakeholders, including national and international partners.
  • Emergency Response: Assist in coordinating responses to maritime emergencies, including search and rescue operations and incident management.
  • Operational Support: Support the overall operational activities of the RCOC by providing situational awareness and contributing to operational planning and decision-making processes.
  • Compliance: Ensure all monitoring and reporting activities comply with relevant regulations, policies, and standard operating procedures.
  • Prepare daily briefings and reports.
  • Monitor radio distress frequencies.


Salary shall depend on qualifications and experience.

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualification and Experience Requirements

  • Must have at least 5x IGCSE’s at Grade C and above
  • Search and Rescue coordination certification or experience (preferred)
  • Previous experience in maritime operations, security, or surveillance is highly desirable.
  • Competent on Microsoft Office and be Computer literate
  • Strong analytical and observational skills.
  • Clean Police Character certificate

Selected candidate should be prepared to work on shift basis, including odd hours, weekends and public holidays.
