Job Description

Summary of Duties 

• Operate Water treatment plants
• Maintain and control intake, sedimentation tank and reservoir levels
• Prepare and maintain accurate records of meter readings, water, residual chlorine, turbidity and pH levels
• Make regular physical inspections of the plant on an hourly or semi-hourly basis by walking around the plant and observing the performance of each piece of equipment
• Monitor and record chemical quantity in use
• Check the condition of plant equipment, carrying out minor repairs to equipment, and/or reporting major faults to engineers
• Follow standard instructions with regards to sampling and monitoring
• Report any problem quickly to the supervisor and ensure that all follow up steps are taken and recorded
• Keep water treatment plant clean

Job Requirements

Qualification and Experience

• Completion of Secondary 5 level of education

Attributes & Skills

• Good practical skills and physical fitness
• The ability to follow detailed instructions
• Willingness to work outside in all weather conditions
• The ability to cope with chemical substances and odours
• Willingness to work unsocial hours
• Awareness of health and safety
